After researching three delivery methods—flipped classroom, scaffolded classroom, and hybrid—I opted for a hybrid approach: scaffolded flipped classroom. This combines structured progression with active, student-led learning.
Scaffolding Methodology
- Three Development Stages:
- Awakening → Introduce the concept of soft skills
- Acknowledgement/Identification → Help students recognize their own soft skills
- Reflection and Discovery → Encourage deeper understanding and application
- Channels Created:
- Soft Skills Passport (weekly entries to track skills)
- Padlet Journaling (students reflect on projects and soft skills usage)
- 2 in-class presentations: at the start and at the end.
- Assignments:
- Tiered tutorials and readings (basic and advanced) to promote stepping outside comfort zones
Flipped Classroom Methodology
- Pre-Class Preparation:
- Home assignments with readings and video tutorials
- Increases time-on-task outside class, enabling students to identify and apply soft skills before in-class activities
